What a great way to start our blogs by talking about our hearts. The physical heart is a magnificent organ. It pumps blood to all areas of the body and most importantly it keeps us alive.
When God speaks of our hearts, he doesn't speak of our physical heart. The heart he is referring to is the origin of our emotions and the essence of our soul that keeps us in relationship with him. Our hearts consists our desires, intentions, will, pleasures and interests.
Deep, isn't it?
Yes ladies and gentlemen, God is not only interested in our going to church and even giving to the poor. He is also interested in our hearts. If he has our hearts, he has us. If he has our hearts, he know he will have a wonderful relationship with us and we will have a wonderful relationship with him.
Revelations 3:20 states: Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear my voice and open the door I will come in to him, and sup with him and he with me. Notice Jesus said he will come INTO him. That means he wants to come into you heart. The word "sup" means to dine. We all know what we do when we eat at the table. We talk, laugh and eat (at least that is what you are supposed to do - lol). We share our interests, desires, will, pleasures and intentions with those we eat with. Well, dining is an anology for having close relationship with someone. That is what God wants. He wants us to DINE with him.
When we give our hearts, we also invite God to share his heart. Yes, God does have a heart. He has pleasures (1Chronicle 29:17;Ezra 10:11), a will (Matthew 26:39), intentions - another word for intentions is purposed (Lamatations 2:8;Jeremiah 4:28), desires (Psalm 40:6) and interests (Psalm 40:5;Jeremiah 23:20). He wants so much to share his heart with you. He is not someone who is sitting so high that he can not relate to us.
Let's try that this week. Let's open our hearts to God. Let's share our desires, interests, pleasures, will and intentions with Him. No fancy-smancy talk.
Just open your heart
