How to Win Your Spiritual Battle - The Word of God

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path… Proverbs 119:105

When the battle is hot you will find out that you need a Word from God to get you through. Battles can and will make you tired, confused, weary and doubtful. The bible states that the word of God is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. God can give you direction through his Word. “He leadeth me besides the still waters…” When you are tired and weary, God’s word will cause you to rest in Him. If you have been fighting battle after battle, you will need a Word from the Lord to keep you focused and refreshed.

The word of God is not only a guide, but it is also a weapon. Here are two scriptural examples of how the word will help you win your battle:

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

The bible says the word of God quick (alive) and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword. God’s word is so sharp that it is compared to a double edged sword. A double edged sword cuts on both sides. It is able to divide a man’s will from his emotions, his motivations from his actions. That is might powerful. When you are in the heat of battle, God will be able to deal with you by showing you your true intentions. He can reveal to you why you are going through your battle. This scripture refers to your responsibility in walking with God. God wants to deal with you through his Word.

Let me say that I know for a certainty that God’s word is alive. This is why we become angry when the word of God comes our way and reveals who we really are! It speaks to us and provokes us. We either get mad or agree with the Word of God.

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Jeremiah 23:29

Have you ever had to spoken to someone with a hardened heart? Well, the word of
God is able to break that heart into pieces and cause the person to yield to his will. When our will is stubborn, God will cause a word to come to us that will burn up our stubborn ways. That is why you should never get angry when a person does not want to receive a word from you. God’s word is able to go into the recesses of their hearts and change them. It is not your responsibility to throw the Word down anyone’s throat. You are to speak it. Then allow God to deal with them. And believe me…he will!

In battles, you have to learn how to use your weapon. Sometimes God will want you to praise. Other times he will want you to pray. Then God may give you a word to keep your mind still or a word of correction. What ever method God uses, be flexible enough to hear him and be obedient.

One last thing, God speaks in many different forms. But when you are in the heat of battle you have to be quiet enough to hear him. Sometimes we are so busy trying to solve our problems that we do not take the time to hear the Word of the Lord. Take to to quiet yourself so you can get direction from God.

Next time I'll give some natural things to do that will help you win your spiritual battle
